Your thought process and your physical surroundings thus mirror one another. Breathnach (1995) refers to personal office items as “civilizing details,” or unique compliments that tell a story about your past and personal tastes. At the office you need something pleasing upon which to focus your eye. Postcards, pictures, and treasures from your travels can be attractively showcased and preserved if they are matted and framed, or placed in a standing rack.
